POST SLEEP : ABRIDGED is the final piece in Ed Scissor’s most recent creative canon; a project with foundations in a book (Second Edition OUT NOW), later an audiobook, and lastly, a movie offered up as the final act.
Blurring the lines between waking life and dreams, POST SLEEP : ABRIDGED is a self-directed, self-edited and (largely) self-shot film that invites the viewer on a journey for fresh knowledge among the streets, woodlands, and ancient and modern landmarks of merry England.
Combining a variety of storytelling techniques and driven by an abridged audiobook score, POST SLEEP : ABRIDGED sees Ed document his burning desire to move by burning it all and re-finding his way, searching out the subtle vibrations between normal and abnormal beyond the breeze-block walls of his new build home.
Teaming up with composer Chapel Tapes on the OST; the duo working together in a 1000-year old Leper Chapel to create a series of dreamscapes, pairing key excerpts from the POST SLEEP text with an original score that evokes a meditative calm, POST SLEEP : ABRIDGED leans upon lockdown hysteria, while joining the dots with recurring themes prevalent in the decade since Ed’s debut LP ‘BETTER.LUCK.NEXT.LIFE’ dropped back in 2012.
The result is the most potent offering yet in Ed Scissor’s strikingly consistent efforts across music and film.
Ed has always walked in search of inspiration; establishing connections and noting observations, thoughts, feelings and beyond on a quest for unaired knowledge, and it is no surprise that this translates so frequently in his work.
